Waycross’ policy is that no child be denied a camping experience due to financial reasons. Waycross scholarships are made available through generous gifts to the Waycross Annual Appeal Fund. In addition to Waycross scholarships, many other parishes and organizations in the Episcopal Diocese of Indianapolis provide scholarship programs for children in their congregation and community to attend camp.
Receiving Financial Assistance
Contact the Waycross office by calling 812.597.4241. We will work with you to establish a customized scholarship partnership for your camper. This is a three step process:
1. Be prepared to talk about how much your family can pay toward your camper’s session. We are able to set up payment plans. 2. We require that you talk to your parish (or another sponsoring organization) for financial support. 3. We will do our part to support your child’s camp experience.
Typically, Waycross scholarships cover 1/3 of the cost of camp. We ask parishes to cover 1/3 and families to cover 1/3. The partnership between the camper family, parish, and Waycross needs to be cohesive so that we can send the most children to summer camp.
Scholarship funds are limited and are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. We encourage you to apply early to receive scholarship funds. We limit one scholarship award per camper per summer so that we can provide camping experiences for the most amount of children possible.
Setting up a Parish Scholarship Fund
Partner with Waycross to set up a camp scholarship fund in your parish or community! Scholarship partnerships at the local level help us use our limited Waycross funds to send more campers to camp. We can work with your congregation to develop a program that is streamlined with our registration process and provides opportunities for outreach and support in your community.
