In the office you’ll find…

Sara Gunter, Executive Director

Sara has been at Waycross for 14 months, dedicating her time and energy to tending all aspects of Waycross’ ministry. Her responsibilities include supporting staff, managing finances, and fostering relationships with Waycross friends and the surrounding community. What she loves most about her role is engaging in the hard and beautiful work of building community and creating opportunities for connection—with others, ourselves, God, and nature. Outside of work, Sara dabbles in writing fiction, occasional knitting, voracious reading, frequent hiking, and taking courses through Ivy Tech’s Life Long Learning Center.

Emma Bullard, Director of Guest Services

Emma has been a part of the Waycross community for eight years in various roles and has served in her current position for just under a year. Her responsibilities include coordinating conferences, managing general office operations, maintaining the website, and contributing to the social media team. What Emma loves most about her work is connecting with both long-time and new groups to share in the magic of Waycross. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with her cats.

Rebecca Davis, Program Director

Rebecca has been part of the Waycross team since October, serving as Program Director. In this role, Rebecca coordinates a variety of Waycross programs, including summer camp, environmental education, and retreats, working closely with staff and volunteers. She also focus on strengthening community relationships and promoting Waycross programming within the local area and the Diocese of Indianapolis. Her favorite part of Waycross is the beautiful lake and rolling hills, and she has enjoyed getting to know the Waycross community. Outside of work, Rebecca enjoys watercolor painting, playing the guitar, and spending time in nature.

In the Facilities Department (or around the grounds) you’ll find…

Jonah Dahncke, Maintenance Director

Jonah has been coming to Waycross for 30 years, and volunteering or working here for 28! He is in charge of “maintaining and enhancing the buildings and grounds of this wonderful place”. Jonah loves working at Waycross because he gets to preserve and ensure people continue to enjoys a place that’s been foundational to his life and family. When Jonah isn’t at work he’s perfecting the pursuit of life, liberty, and the search for the perfect sandwich. Also musicals.

Ian McMath, Maintenance Technician

Ian has been a part of the team for just under a year. He assists Jonah in managing our landscapes, trail work, and maintaining camp infrastructure on a day to day basis. What Ian love most about working at Waycross is enjoying the 420 acres of Indiana Backcountry and learning more about the history and lore of the property. When Ian isn’t at work you can find him hiking/camping/bush crafting or hunting around various parts of Southern Indiana.

In the Hospitality Department you’ll find…

Barb Hamm, Director of Hospitality

Barb has been at Waycross for over 25 years! Among her valuable input to history and traditions at Waycross, her responsibilities include developing menus, creating schedules, and working alongside an incredible hospitality staff, leadership staff, and camp staff. Barb also puts her culinary skills into practice and enjoys welcoming and taking care of our guests/campers. What she loves most about her role are the folks she gets to meet, the relationships she builds, and the magnificent natural surrounding she gets to work within. Outside of work, Barb enjoys spending time with her family, doing paper crafts, and sewing.
